In a near-future world where androids have become humans’ best friends, not much has actually changed. Marriage is still pressured onto children, intergenerational cultural divides still place parents and children at odds with each other, and coming-of-age rites of passage still lead to rebellion and eventual fulfillment… we hope. Mechanical Souls is a series about two great, and rival, families: the aristocratic Songs, and the wealthy Zhangs. The matriarchs of each family covet what the other has - Mrs. Song is after the Zhangs’ wealth, and Mrs. Zhang yearns for the Songs’ social status. They have decided to resolve this by arranging for their children to marry and thus unite the two families. In uniting her daughter, Zhen-zhen, to Li-wei Zhang, Mrs. Song will spare no cost - she hires for the duration of the wedding human-like androids, courtesy of MRs. Zhang’s wallet. Always keen to be in the avant garde of technology and trends, she rents Ah-Hui, a beta model that hasn’t been fully tested. This will of course lead to problems. As a beta model, Ah-hui is bound to malfunction... and start to question her own nascent conscience.

L.P. Lee is an English Eurasian author, filmmaker, and TV consultant. Gaëlle Mourre is an award-winning Franco-British writer, director. Yeu is a Taiwanese illustrator and comic artist. She excels at a mix of American comics and Japanese manga styles. Momo is a comic editor, illustrator, and storyboard adaptor from Taiwan.
