「送肉粽」原名送吊煞，是彰化沿海一帶的特殊民俗儀式。因上吊身亡的亡魂煞氣重，無法投胎。需要經由地方廟宇舉辦這個儀式，把帶有煞氣的上吊繩索、死者衣物送去陰陽交界處──海邊燒掉驅煞，否則煞氣會留在村子裡。過程中只有廟方和親屬能夠參與，其餘常人避之唯恐不及。然而這一次，習俗卻走上畸路、利用生人勿近的特色進行邪惡的計畫，這是場掩蓋下庄人篤信的傳統與現代觀念衝突下的悲劇。高中生謝志錚為了姑姑宜春的喪事回到久違的老家，在兒時玩伴何家瑋、表妹彭禹真的協助下孤身調查姑姑上吊輕生的真相，逐步深入家族、自己與家鄉宮廟主神．傳說中投海平定海嘯的村中女神「定海夫人」傳說間密不可分的連結…...這場少年少女們為反抗家族命運所進行的冒險，卻在村落中被舊有信仰所束縛的長輩們給殘酷地打壓，他們慢慢發覺身邊所有原本和藹可親的村人都是敵人，志錚也逐步落入悲劇的結局。
"Gifting Rice Dumplings (metaphor for hanging ropes)", originally named "Song Diao Sha", is a special folk ceremony held along the Changhua coast. The souls of the dead who hanged themselves are stormed with evil spirits; therefore, they could not reincarnate. This ritual needs to be held in a local temple, and the hanging ropes with evil spirits and the clothes of the dead one are sent to the junction of yin and yang which is the seaside, and then people will burned these things to frighten away the evil spirits, otherwise the evil spirits will remain in the village. Only the temple and relatives of the dead can participate in the ritual, as the rest of villagers avoid it with great fear. However, this time, the custom has taken an unnatural path and excuse others from participating because of the tradition, but in fact, some people are planning to carry out wicked ploy which is tragedy that conceals the conflict between the Xiazhuang village Taiwanese traditions and modern concepts. High school student Xie Zhizheng returned to his hometown that he hardly ever visited for the funeral of his aunt Yichun. With the assistance of childhood playmate, Jiawei and his cousin Peng Yuzhen, he investigates to find out the truth about his aunt’s death by hanging himself, and gradually dig into relations between his family, himself, and the god of the palace: the legendary village goddess "Ms. Dinghai" who sacrifice herself to save people from the tsunami. This adventure of youngsters fighting for the fate of the family were cruelly suppressed by the elders in the village who believed in old beliefs. In the meanwhile, they come to realize that all the amiable villagers around them turn out to be enemies, and Zhizheng is falling into a tragic cycle as well.
