作品簡介
一個只想賺大錢的弟弟秦得參，用盡心機諂媚、賄賂警察，僅盼望甘蔗磅秤能夠順利，不幸，磅秤做假，特警抓人，家人遭殃，適逢貴人相助，秦家總算落得平安，秦得參放下過去小營小利心態，平實過日子。
All Qin De-can wants is strike it rich. He tries his best to sweet-talk and bribe the police, and hopes the weighing of sugarcane to go smoothly. But the Sugar Company rigs the scale to cheat the farmers, and the police come to arrest people. Fortunately with someone's help, the Qins survive the incident. Qin De-can decides to keep his feet on the ground and seek for an ordinary and simple life.

In 1920s, during the Japanese Occupied Period, Lai He, the father of Taiwanese New Literature, recorded the lives of people in Taiwan with his conscience and courage as a writer. The TV drama is adapted from five short novels of Lai He's writings to do him honor and make the audience re-examine how they survive in the contemporary society.
