Hung-Kuan’s granduncle disappeared, leaving piles of manuscript. He is a ‘literature maniac,’ who is so obsessed with writing that he can’t spare having a full time job, and even a family; he cares nothing but literature, even if everyone sees him as a freak. Hung-Kuan plays as a ‘literature detective,’ he reads those manuscript and tries to understand his granduncle’s past, and also as a way to trace him back.

Searching for Sugar Man in Taiwan literature history. January 31st, 1994 is the date when Hung-Kuan’s granduncle disappeared, and also the date when Taiwanese writer Li, Rong-Chun passed away. Li, Rong-Chun was just nobody when he was alive. For fifty years, he wrote three million words, but seldom had chances to publish his work. Even though, he dedicated all his life to writing novels. After he died, people started to value and study his works seriously. Li Tung, the most famous writer for YA novels in Taiwan, inspired and touched by the bygone predecessor, and therefore created Tracing the Unknown Novelist. The story combines Li, Rong-Chun’s real life and work, World War Ⅱ history, leading young readers to understand an ordinary but great Taiwanese writer.

在校園民歌時代勤於歌詞創作，以〈廟會〉〈月琴〉〈散場電影〉最為膾炙人口。同時致力青少年小說、散文創作，重要作品有《天鷹翱翔》《順風耳的新香爐》《再見天人菊》《博士．布都與我》及「臺灣的兒女」十六部系列小說。作品曾翻譯成英、日、韓等語文，並改編為電視連續劇、舞臺劇與動畫影片。
Li Tung is a folk song lyricist and one of the most famous and talented YA novel writer; his works mainly focused on Taiwanese local issue.
