畢業於臺灣師範大學國語科及淡江大學英文系,當過小學老師、新聞記者,歷任《國語日報》編輯、編譯主任、出版部經理、國語日報社社長,以國語日報董事長兼發行人身分退休,退休後繼續從事寫作。 習慣以筆名「子敏」發表散文,以本名為小讀者寫作,是小讀者口中的「林良爺爺」。 以兒童文學工作為生平職志,2003年榮獲金鼎獎終身成就獎,2012年榮獲國家文藝獎,2020年獲頒總統褒揚令。
He has worked as an elementary school teacher and a news reporter. He served in various roles at Mandarin Daily News, including editor, chief of the translation and editing department, publishing manager. He retired as chairman of Mandarin Daily News, but continued writing after retirement. He often published essays under the pen name Zi Min, while using his real name when writing for children—who fondly called him “Grandpa Lin Liang.” Dedicated to children’s literature throughout his life, he was honored with the Golden Tripod Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2003, the National Award for Arts in 2012, and received a Presidential Citation in 2020.
