“Eisbär: A Fantastical Adventure” is an interactive VR animated short film about environmental destruction and climate change, told through the first-person perspective of a young polar bear named Eisbär. At the start of the film, you (the user) find yourself in the middle of a blizzard, with the sound of someone screaming, “Eisbär! Eisbär! Where are you?” You seem to be standing on an iceberg, snow and open ocean in all directions. As you peer over the edge of the iceberg, you see your own reflection - that of a two-year old polar bear, Eisbär. Through the story, you experience first-hand Eisbär’s journey, going from the safety of home and family deeper and deeper into the world of mankind. You experience beautiful things that you never experienced before, such as the enchanting underwater song of the humpback whale and the mesmerizing majesty of the Northern Lights. However, you also experience terrible things, such as a sea of trash in which you become trapped and a blazing oil spill fire from which you must escape. Though you finally escape peril, you are so exhausted that you must climb onto an oil rig to rest. There, humans find you and attempt to rescue you, taking you away in a helicopter to an unknown fate. Through artistic stylization and 360-degree immersion, we hope to use Eisbär’s fantasy journey to deliver a visceral message about environmental protection, painting a vivid picture of human impact on the Earth and the future that awaits all creatures as we continue to speed towards the precipice of irreversible climate change.

VR Co-production Partner This VR project will adopt an international joint production model, and cooperate with the award-winning French VR production studio BackLight to integrate multinational technology and resources. Since its establishment in 2008, BackLight has produced more than 60 XR/VR/AR related works and won more than 54 international awards, including the Golden Lion Award for Best VR Experience at the 78th Venice Film Festival in 2021 with Blanca Li’s “Le Bal de Paris.” Distribution Distributor Jimmy Cheng is the Director of Content & Business Operations at Digital Domain Holdings Limited in Hong Kong/ USA. He focuses on acquisition/licensing of XR content, representing over 170 XR Studios (Atlas V, Baobab, Secret Location, etc.) and servicing Oculus TV and 10 global telecoms (Orange / Deutsche Telecom / LG U+ / Softbank / etc.). \
