「異域紅塵」的題材是一本描述台灣留學生的愛情勵志文本，背景融入全球最具代表性的橫濱中華街使得故事更具時代張力，在小說體的詮釋下一窺異國文化的生活風貌。而此著作最重要的是透過文學的筆觸將跨文化的矛盾與衝突設計於情節中，讓人深思體會因而獲神奈川書評讚譽為「東方版的飄」。 作為影視化的題材除了異國雙城故事的氛圍外，對上下兩代的關係刻畫著墨甚深，是相當少見以人物描繪見長的作品，戲劇設計張力十足。 作者許旭蓮於2019年榮膺台南市政府邀請作為駐市文學家，對改編「異域紅塵」發表了更新的現代視角和創意延伸。
The theme of "Once in a life time" is an inspirational text describing the love of Taiwanese international students. The background is integrated into the world's most representative Yokohama Chinatown, which makes the story even more contemporary. The interpretation of the novel gives a glimpse of the life style of a foreign culture. The most important thing about this work is the design of cross-cultural contradictions and conflicts in the plot through literary brushstrokes, which makes people think deeply and is praised by the Kanagawa Book Review as the "Oriental Gone with the Wind." As the subject of film and television, in addition to the atmosphere of the story of the foreign twin cities, the relationship between the upper and lower generations is deeply portrayed. It is quite a rare work that is known for depicting characters, and the dramatic design is full of tension. The author was invited by the Tainan City Government in 2019 as a writer in the city, and published an updated modern perspective and creative extension of the adaptation of "Once in a life time".

台灣台南人，師範学校畢業後於1980年赴日深造獲日本大學中國文學博士，2004年出版小説「異域紅塵」中文版及日文版，為日本友鄰堂書店暢銷書。近年致力於將作品轉譯工作，活躍於橫濱教育出版界。 2021年出版最新長篇小說<春之夢>(日文版)獲日本有鄰堂書店暢銷榜.
Born in Tainan, Taiwan in 1951, after graduating from normal school, he went to Japan for a Ph.D. in Chinese Literature at Nihon University in 1980. In 2004, he published the Chinese version and Japanese version of the novel "Exotic Red Dust", which is a best-selling book in Japan's Youlintang Bookstore. In recent years, he has devoted himself to the translation of works and is active in the Yokohama education publishing industry. The latest novel <Spring Dream> (Japanese version) published in 2021 won the best-selling list of Japan's Yurintang Bookstore.
