千禧年的某一天，傳聞中有收賄嫌疑的刑警阿發在槍械室舉槍自盡。同時，少年俊豪逃家失蹤，從此渺無音訊。十八年後，老警官順子在舊時警局理髮阿姨家中剪頭，聊起阿發，意外揭露了當年的真相。
On a particular day in the new millennium, a policeman shot himself in the Firearms Room. His name was A-Fa, and he was under suspicion of taking bribes. At the same time, the young Chun-Hao disappeared after running away from home. Nobody has heard from him ever since. Eighteen years later, an old police officer Shun-Tzu visits the home of the hairdresser who used to give the policemen haircuts at the old police station. As the lady trims his hair, the old friends talk about A-Fa, and the police officer reveals the truth in a surprising turn of events.

It was high noon on a day at the start of the 21st century. The emptiness born of excessive training became a beacon of hope for Chun-Hao, rescuing him from the woes of his high school life. Chun-Hao had been falsely accused of stealing the class fund. Thoughts of the helplessness of his single mother and the hostility of his teacher chased away all hopes he harbored toward the world. Hsiao-Wen, the new transfer student, was the only person who tried to befriend and understand him. A-Fa, who was born in the countryside and abandoned by his biological family, thought that becoming a police officer would be an opportunity for him to get a second chance at life. After his wedding, he even got promoted to the role of a Criminal Police Team Leader, thanks to his father-in-law's network and influence. His wife Mei-Hui was a few months pregnant, but her parents still had lots of doubts about A-Fa despite their daughter's assurances. A-Fa tried his best to be a good policeman, a good husband, and a good man in the face of the ridicules of his in-laws and the stress from his co-workers. However, he could not get rid of the deep sense of loneliness and powerlessness in his heart. As a result of hidden forces of greed and fraud, two fragile lives crossed paths. Their destinies intertwined as they found themselves helpless in the face of their same-sex attraction, which ended abruptly on that hot day, when a gunshot shattered the peace of a quiet noon. Eighteen years later, an old police officer Shun-Tzu visits the home of the hairdresser who used to give the policemen haircuts at the old police station. As the lady trims his hair, the old friends talk about A-Fa, the officer who chose to end his life at such a young age. What Shun-Tzu unexpectedly reveals disturbs the memories of those that remain. Mankind was born of shame. Unresolved parent-child relationships and social labels expose both the cruelty and tenderness of human nature.
