為了增進社會大眾對臺灣白色恐怖歷史的了解，並推廣相關研究，中央研究院臺灣史研究所與國家人權博物館合作，將「臺灣白色恐怖歷史概覽編纂計畫」第五期產出的10篇與臺灣白色恐怖歷史相關的研究論文集結成冊出版，希望透過個別政治案件的究明，藉以明瞭不同地域、不同類型政治案件內，各受害者不同的樣態。 本書所收錄的論文所觸及的政治案件類型、地域、探討重點各有不同，除中共臺灣省工委會所轄的區域性、山地組織案件外，也觸及了海軍「美頌」艦艇投共未遂案、方鳳揚案、陸效文案等不同類型的政治案件。從個別的政治案件切入，除能釐清可能錯誤的成說外，亦能觀照出許多不同的重要研究課題，例如「政校關係」與「黨國體制」緊密結合的可能影響、三七五減租與農村地區政治案件的關係等、軍審體制的變化、判處罪刑不相當；所謂武裝基地只是已曝光者的潛藏處等等。
This proceedings volume contains 10 papers examining diverse political cases from Taiwan’s White Terror period. The collection explores topics including the CCP Taiwan Province Working Committee activities in indigenous and local areas, the RCS Mei Song Mutiny of 1949, the Fang Feng-yang case, and the Lu Hsiao-wen case. By diving into specific cases, it helps clarify common misunderstandings and illuminate significant research directions. The volume results from the fifth phase of the “Compilation Project of the Historical Overview of Taiwan’s White Terror Period,” a collaborative effort between the Institute of Taiwan History, Academia Sinica and the National Human Rights Museum.
