Ah-Tsai's father worked in the mines, and an accident once left him seriously injured. Therefor, Ah-Tsai's older brother is forced to join their mother working underground. Told from a child's perspective, this novel vividly portrays the daily life of a coal-mining town—the solidarity among miners and their families during times of hardship, the close-knit community reflected in the local shopkeepers' trust-based credit system, and the cramped, impoverished living conditions of mining households. Through the eyes of a young narrator, the story captures both the struggles and warmth of life in the coalfields.

作者郭明珠
◆作者簡介◆ 郭明珠，出生於台北社子小地方的工人家庭，五年級後段班。為紀錄片工作者，近年與台灣勞動歷史與文化學會伙伴投入礦工口述歷史的工作。首篇少年小說曾獲第二屆新航文學蓓蕾獎，獨立評論〈工人寶礦記〉專欄作者。《礦山的孩子》是第一本童書創作。

作者 MING-CHU KUO
MING-CHU KUO was born into a working-class family in the Shezi area of Taipei and is a member of Taiwan's "post-war baby boom" generation. She is a documentary filmmaker and, in recent years, has worked closely with the Taiwan Labor History and Culture Association to preserve the oral histories of miners. Her first young adult short story won the 2nd New Route Literary Bud Award(Taiwan). She also writes the independent column Chronicles of Workers and the Precious Mines. Children of Mine is her debut children's book.
