The man’s final words lead Yu to uncover his identity: Zheng Rixiang, a member of the underground resistance group "Squad Nine." Yu impersonates Zheng Rixiang to join Squad Nine. Welcomed by its members, he feels a sense of belonging he never had—but soon witnesses the dark tragedies that haunt the group. 私校男大生余永熾對現實不滿，在一次課後於校園水池許願時，竟穿越至戒嚴時期的台灣。他才剛搞清楚狀況，便遭警總誤認身分、開槍追殺，倉皇逃亡。途中遇見一名重傷男子，兩人長相幾乎一樣。男子名叫鄭日翔，是反抗組織第九分隊成員，臨死前將任務與信物托付給永熾。永熾因此頂替其身分潛入分隊，與汪韻苡、黃日捷等人成為夥伴，並在行動中取得初步信任。然而隔日，分隊突遭警總血洗，永熾倖存卻落入敵手，慘遭拷打。
在絕望邊緣，他被隊長董智慎救出，藏身市場一隅的安全屋。行動尚未結束，永熾與新拍檔女特務文俐調查白家滅門血案，發現倖存者白方，並從現場線索推測，新聞中專殺警總的「殺人魔」極可能與案件有關。永熾原本怯懦，但為自保也為找出真相，被迫走上前線。一次夜間潛入行動中，他遭副隊長謝靖恩出賣，才知第九分隊的滅亡早有內鬼設局。危急時刻，「殺人魔」現身，將警總斬殺殆盡，救出永熾。
