而渡部在層層追查後終於揭露：寡婦阿岩死於一場蓄意操控，背後的兇手竟是臥底老警察高木——阿國的上司，也是阿岩前夫的密友。昔日的反抗運動早已被粉碎，留下的，只剩一場場背叛與沉默的清算。面對高木的威脅、佐川的冤屈，以及阿國難以啟齒的掙扎與無法道出口的愛戀，渡部選擇挺身而出。

【STORY OUTLINE】 In 1930s Taiwan, the murder of a widow exposes long-buried political secrets. Japanese lawyer Watanabe sets out to defend the suspect, Sagawa, but soon senses deeper forces at play. His search for truth leads him into the alleys of Xinqi Town, where he uncovers a hidden world of resistance and espionage. There, he meets A-Kuo, a quiet, enigmatic woman posing as a maid but actually an undercover informant. Assigned to retrieve a secret list tied to a defunct rebel group, she begins to waver as her encounters with Watanabe stir doubt and buried emotion. Watanabe discovers the true culprit: Takagi, A-Kuo’s superior and a former undercover cop. The past rebellion lies in ruins, replaced by betrayal and silence. Though Watanabe tries to expose the truth, Takagi walks free while Sagawa is convicted. Justice fails. A-Kuo pays for her choices; Watanabe departs alone for Hong Kong, carrying an unsent letter and a name that lingers, like the fading embers of a dream.
