《緣故地》為曾獲得臺灣歷史小說獎的作家錢真，以家鄉南投竹山為舞臺，取材日治時期著名的反抗事件「頂林事件」，寫下一段帶有神異色彩的故事。「頂林事件」是明治四十五年，南投竹山一帶居民在竹林地產權問題下，爆發的襲警抗爭事件。透過靜謐悠緩的筆觸，本書呈現臺灣人歷經現代化統治，徘徊在新、舊秩序間的無所適從。
This book draws on the famous anti-colonial incident, the "Dinglin Incident," during the Japanese occupation. The event took place in 1912, when local residents in the Zhushan area clashed with the police over land rights to bamboo forests. With a poetic narrative, the novel portrays Taiwanese people's disorientation under modern colonial rule.

錢真
錢真 本名錢映真，南投竹山人，現居臺南，寫作亦學習南管。中央大學大氣物理研究所碩士，曾任高中地球科學教師。曾獲臺灣歷史小說獎、全球華文文學星雲獎歷史小說獎、打狗鳳邑文學獎、南投縣玉山文學獎、桃城文學獎、臺中文學獎。 錢真擅於以寧靜知性筆法，挖掘歷史內面的幽微人心，她的小說兼具史識、詩意與哲思，著作《羅漢門》取材清代臺灣朱一貴抗爭事件，於二○一九年出版。

Chien Chen
Chien Ying-chen, a native of Zhushan, Nantou, now lives in Tainan, Taiwan. She holds a master’s degree in atmospheric physics from National Central University and is a former high school earth science teacher. In addition to her writing, she studies Nanguan, a traditional genre of Chinese classical music. Chien is the recipient of several literary honors, including the Taiwan Historical Fiction Award, the Global Chinese Literary Prize Nebula Award, the Dagou Fengyi Literary Award, the Yushan Literature Award (Nantou County), the Taocheng Literature Award, and the Taichung Literature Award. Her fiction is known for its quiet intensity and empathetic insight, weaving together historical narrative, poetic sensibility, and philosophical depth. Her novel Luohanmen, inspired by the 18th-century rebellion led by Chu Yi-kuei in Qing-era Taiwan, was published in 2019.
