After his mother passes away, 17-year-old Shen-Xing is under the guardianship of his deaf uncle, who’s only six years older and not related by blood. As they live together and communicate through handwritten notes, Shen-Xing gradually grows closer to him and begins to develop feelings for him.

Jin-Yan is deaf, only six years older, and not related to him by blood, and they’ve never even met. Shen-Xing moves into Jin-Yan’s home, and they begin living together. Jin-Yan is a quiet, disciplined painter. Through notes and basic sign language, they slowly find ways to communicate. As they start sharing meals and daily routines, Shen-Xing sees a softer side of him, kind, but not good at expressing it. Shen-Xing tries to get closer, learning sign language to better understand him. Their bond shifts between family and something more. But on Shen-Xing’s eighteenth birthday, Jin-Yan quietly leaves, returning to the country where he used to live...
