Based on Shifang Ma’s lectures, this book traces Bob Dylan’s evolution—from his folk roots and the American song tradition (1941–1964), through his electric rock revolution (1964–1966), to the poetic depth of Blonde on Blonde and his legendary 1966 tour. It explores Dylan’s return to roots in the late ’60s, the emotional weight of Blood on the Tracks (1975), and the theatrical Rolling Thunder Revue. The final chapter reflects on Dylan’s later works, including Oh Mercy, Time Out of Mind, and Rough and Rowdy Ways, highlighting his creative resurgence and relentless touring into his 80s.
