《悲情城市》電影本事：　　1945年8月，日皇宣佈無條件投降，台灣脫離日本統治51年，重回祖國懷抱。林阿祿（李天祿飾）家的老大林文雄（陳松勇飾），在外面的女人生下一子，取名林光明。　　林家於日治時代經營的藝旦間重新開幕，改名「小上海」。大哥文雄在港邊有一家商行做運輸。老二被徵召去南洋當軍醫，至今無音訊。全家都已看破，只有二嫂（柯素雲飾），相信丈夫有天會回來，仍然把診所保持得一不染。老三林文良（高捷飾），於戰爭期間徵去上海當通譯，敗戰後被當成漢奸通緝，逃奔返台，深受刺激。　　老四林文清（梁朝偉飾），小時跌傷耳聾，經營一家照相館，與知識青年吳寬榮（吳義芳飾）同住。他們有一批朋友，國校教員、從大陸回來的老師、記者，和寬榮當護士的妹妹寬美（辛樹芬飾）。他們憂國傷時，傾心社會主義，聚餐時，每每語多慷慨，對光復後國民政府為政不廉，民不聊生多有憤慨。寬美與文清在多次長久的筆談中，由熟識而相愛。　　文良康復後，上海的一批舊識來找，希望他提供船隻，運禁品米糖去上海，再搞私貨回來，兩頭賺。未料，上海佬（雷鳴飾）與當地另一股勢力逐漸結合，為爭奪利益範圍，用檢肅戰犯漢奸條例密告文良、文雄。文良被關，放出後變成廢人。　　二二八事件爆發，文清和朋友相繼被捕、失踪。寬榮逃入深山，成立組織對抗政府。文清從獄中出來，意欲加入寬榮實踐理想，但寬榮不允，把妹妹託付給他。此時，大哥文雄在一場與上海佬的拼殺中身亡，剩下他是林家唯一的男人了。　　文清終於娶了寬美，並生下一子。然而文清還是被帶走了，悲劇並未結束。光陰無奈，1949年12月，大陸淪陷，國民政府遷台，定臨時首都於台北。

Set in postwar Taiwan (1945–1949), the film follows the Lin family during the island’s transition from Japanese rule to Kuomintang control. Eldest son Wen-hsiung runs a bar and awaits his child’s birth. Second son Wen-liang, traumatized by war and false imprisonment, descends into crime. Youngest son Wen-ching, a deaf photographer with leftist ideals, is caught in political unrest. After the 1947 February 28 Incident, Wen-ching is arrested but released. He marries Hiromi and quietly supports guerilla fighter Hiroe. As the resistance collapses, Wen-ching is arrested again, leaving Hiromi and their child behind. The film reflects Taiwan’s turmoil through one family’s fate.

劇照攝影：陳少維　　出生於台北，成長於台中。曾隨謝春德工作，為《悲情城市》拍攝劇照。出版過攝影作品《快門慢舞》(2005)。　　2011年擔任威尼斯雙年展台灣館謝春德個展製作總監。主編：褚明仁　　曾任師大附中視聽社、政大電影社社長。政大新聞系畢，退伍後如願考上民生報主跑電影新聞，人生第一次出國就是飛去威尼斯影展採訪《悲情城市》。從事所熱愛的電影發行工作廿餘年，現任年代國際（香港）有限公司執行長。

作者 Era International Limited / Chen Shao-Wei
Still Photographer: Chen Shao-Wei Born in Taipei and raised in Taichung, Chen apprenticed under renowned photographer Hsieh Chun-Te and served as the still photographer for A City of Sadness. He published the photography collection Slow Dance of the Shutter in 2005. In 2011, he was the production director for Hsieh Chun-Te’s solo exhibition at the Taiwan Pavilion of the Venice Biennale. Editor-in-Chief: Chu Ming-Jen Former president of the audiovisual club at Taipei Municipal Jianguo High School and the film club at National Chengchi University (NCCU), Chu holds a journalism degree from NCCU. After completing military service, he fulfilled his dream of covering film news at Min Sheng Daily, with his first overseas assignment being the Venice Film Festival for A City of Sadness. He has worked in film distribution for over two decades and currently serves as CEO of Era International (Hong Kong) Ltd.
