A native of Dajia, Taichung, the author is known for his work across essays, poetry, and visual research. His publications explore Taiwan’s landscapes, memory, and history through literary reflection and the interpretation of historical aerial imagery. He has received the Golden Tripod Award for both feature reporting and book editing.

The first in-depth visual study of aerial photographs of the Alishan region. Historical aerial imagery researcher Huang Tong-Hung, in collaboration with the Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office, spent three years analyzing wartime U.S. recon photos, postwar agricultural and forestry surveys, and Forestry Bureau archives. The book explores forgotten forest railway lines, abandoned settlements, and traces of human-land relationships across 80 years, revealing the stories of those who once lived and worked deep in the mountains of Alishan.
