The history of Crown Culture Corporation dates back to February 22, 1954 when Mr Ping Shin-Tao started his business with Crown Magazine. With time, the Crown Culture Corporation has expanded with the establishment of CROWN PUBLISHING COMPANY, PING’S PUBLICATIONS, PAPERBACK PUBLISHING COMPANY, PING’S RECORDINGS, CROWN website, CROWN bookshop, and DANCE FORUM TAIPEI. This corporation has reached out to films, television, records, gallery, theater, dance classroom and other cultural spheres. In the last 20 years, Crown has developed oversea markets and set up subsidiary offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, exerting more influences than other Taiwanese publishers on the oversea Chinese community.
Crown publications have received numerous honors and awards including Golden Tripod Award, Golden Book Award, China Times Open Book Award, the Reader Award from United Daily News, and have been named as Kingstone Annual Top 10 Influential Books. In recognition of its accomplishments in publishing as well as its contribution to literature and art, Taipei City Government presented the “Best Art and Cultural Group” award to CROWN, making it the first publisher given this laurel.
