Yu-Shiuan Mei is a Taiwan-born composer. He holds a bachelor' s degree from the Tainan National University of the Arts (TNNUA), majoring in Zheng (a Chinese zither) performance, and a master' s degree in composition from the Taipei National University of the Arts (TNUA). He counts among his mentors Ching-Mei Lin, Pei-Yi Lee, and Leung-Fai Lo. Traditional music has strong influences on many of Mei' s works. He is interested in combining traditional culture with contemporary music techniques to explore musical diversity. His works have been selected twice to participate in the "One-Minute Symphony Project" and were premiered by conductors Jun Märkl and Olari Elts with the Taiwan Philharmonic (National Symphony Orchestra).
