Pataauw
《Pataauw: the witches of Beitou》 is a webtoon series depicting a group of cosmopolitan women in Taipei, juggling their urban life, career, love and friendship, while being hunted by secret military forces for their ancient power inherited from indigenous deities.
Introduction
The word “Pataauw/北投” means “witches” in indigenous austronesian language, this famous hot spring district of Taipei City, named after Ketagalan mythology of witchcraft is submerged in sulfur fumes all year round, while modern witches live among us. 8 women are being hunted by an underground military force called “withe group/白團”. In order to keep enjoying their urban lifestyle and pursue careers, the witches have to figure out ways to hide their identities, defeat their enemy while looking out for potential traitors among themselves. The A-storyline started with the assasiantion of the plant witch, the other 7 witches gathered to discuss the threat, soon realizing there might be a bigger scheme while they are being taken out one by one. The B-storyline follows male assassins from white group, a bunch of well-trained soldier hunks searching for witches, after one of the witch hunters fell in love with the tragedy witch, their relationship complicated the missions on both sides.
