This comic-book was based on interviews with Village Chief Fang He-sheng and on actual visits to the Soaring Youth Barista Training Program. Scriptwriter Ars and comic artist H. Chia have jointly produced a heart-warming story about how a group of disadvantaged youngsters in Taiwan were able to turn their lives around.

"South Airport Coffee Fragrance" brings you to a corner of Taiwanese society nowadays. Following the story of Borough Warden FANG He-sheng and Jia-kai, we can observe how the underprivileged teens turn their misfortunes into bright futures. This beautiful graphic novel inspires young people to dream and opens a new path for them. Nanjichang Community is composed of old apartment buildings and is highly cared by the local social welfare system in Taipei City. 15-year-old Jia-kai is a troublesome youth, who lives in this area. Luckily, Borough Warden FANG Ho-sheng of Nanjichang Community is very enthusiastic to help people. He runs a barista training program for these wayward teenagers in the neighborhood. Jia-kai suddenly discovers his talent and starts to be very engaged in learning for a barista license. However, after a spat with another student, he gives up the class and returns to the streets again... This comic project was completed by professional screenwriter ARS and creative comic artist H. Chia. Its script is based on true stories and on-the-spot interviews. As a publisher, Fisfisa Media aims to discover and present more local stories worthy of attention, and to work with more talented artists for enriching the world of graphic reading.
H. Chia is a sequential artist, whose main interests are comics, illustrations, hand-painted animations, and storyboarding. Her previous publications include “Bygone.” Her works have been shown at the Angoulême International Comics Festival, BDFIL (Festival de bande dessinée Lausanne), and the International Animated Film Festival ANIMATOR.
Script by Ars
Ars is the penname of Wu Chia-chia, who works in the television industry and is involved in the production of television programs. She especially enjoys producing human-interest stories. This book is her first foray into the world of comics.
