Taking place before the Wushe Incident, the Srilamau anti-Japanese resistance is a rarely mentioned yet significant chapter in Japan’s colonial history. In the face of the oppressive “Five-Year Plan for Subjugating the Savages,” the Srilamau and Skoyaw warriors, drawing on their deep knowledge of the mountains and remarkable courage, fought for 22 years in the highlands at 2,500 meters above sea level. Their fierce resistance against Japanese military aggression and massacres powerfully embodied the unyielding spirit of Atayal defiance.

苗栗泰安鄉大安部落Mesingaw後代，台灣大學人類學系博士肄業；曾任慈濟科技大學兼任講師、中原大學兼任副教授、東華大學兼任助理教授等；歷年來以文化傳承為己任，已記錄多位泰雅耆老口述生命史並研究泰雅族遷徙史、戰爭史、巫術文化及語言變遷，堪稱為泰雅學之泰斗。

A descendant of the Mesingaw clan from Da’an Village in Tai’an Township, Miaoli, he pursued doctoral studies in Anthropology at National Taiwan University. He has served as a part-time lecturer at Tzu Chi University of Science and Technology, adjunct associate professor at Chung Yuan Christian University, and adjunct assistant professor at National Dong Hwa University. Dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage, he has documented the oral life histories of numerous Atayal elders and conducted extensive research on Atayal migration, warfare, shamanistic practices, and language change—earning him recognition as a leading authority in Atayal studies.
